About the RoleThe Senior Speech & Language Therapist will provide an evidence-based person-centred speech and language therapy service as part of a multi-disciplinary team to young adults between the age of 17.5 and 29.5 years across various day services in North Dublin.ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of young adults across a variety of day service locations throughout North Dublin and carry out home visits as necessary.Provide a quality speech & language therapy service to the people we support through assessment, diagnosis and management of communication and dysphagia.Monitor, audit and evaluate communication and dysphagia care plans and interventions.Lead and contribute to quality improvement work that may include project work, research, evaluation, audit, in-service training, service development and evaluation of resources within the young adult team and wider speech and language therapy department.Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated care.Represent the department / profession / team at meetings and conferences as designated by the SLT Manager or Clinical director of HSCP.Consult with the people we support and their families/key workers regarding assessment, treatment and education as appropriate.Participate in the development of clinical protocols and guidelines reflective of evidence-based practice.Manage and prioritise clinical and non-clinical caseloads appropriate to the post.Become familiar with and work in accordance with relevant HSE policies, HIQA standards, New Directions, legislation and professional policies, guidelines and requirements to ensure safe practice and high standards of service delivery.Promote a culture that values equality, diversity and respect in the workplace.Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures, policies and guidelines for the SLT and YAT team while adhering to existing standards and protocols.Supervision of Basic Grade SLTs and student SLTs as appropriate.QualificationsRelevant degree in Speech and Language Therapy.Registration with the Speech and Language Therapy Registration Board.Required SkillsStrong clinical skills in speech and language therapy.Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong organizational and time management skills.Preferred SkillsExperience working with young adults with disabilities.Knowledge of current best practices in speech and language therapy.
