Summary of Position:The EU Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting and maintaining strong accounting controls across the region. This role supports core accounting activities, including month-end close, VAT compliance, reconciliations, journals, and audit preparation. Working closely with the Finance Manager and transactional teams, the Financial Accountant ensures the integrity of the general ledger and contributes to a high-standard financial control environment.Responsibilities:•Support monthly financial reporting activities and preparation of the EU entity results.•Prepare and submit VAT returns and support other statutory or regulatory filings.•Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.•Prepare journals, including payroll, freight, accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.•Own assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure proper documentation and reconciliation.•Prepare and support weekly and monthly payment runs.•Support AP and AR functions by providing accounting guidance and handling escalations.•Lead intercompany reconciliations and assist with transfer pricing documentation if needed.•Support fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.•Assist with internal and external audits, supplying schedules and explanations as required.•Support year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with group timelines and standards.•Liaise with external advisors on tax, statutory accounts, and compliance matters.Qualifications:•Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)•3 years + experience in management accounting or financial accounting.•Advanced Excel proficiency, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis•Attention to detail•Ability to work to strict deadlines•Strong communication skills•Problem-solving mindsetDesirable (Not Essential)•Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems•Experience working in a multinational environment•Tax returns experienceRelationships•The EU Financial Accountant will report to the Finance Manager.
