The Mespil Hotel has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant (Duty) Manager to join our management team.


Job Overview

The Assistant Manager will oversee the operation of the hotel while on duty, ensuring consistently high standards of customer service at all times, and will report directly to the Deputy General Manager. The role is a challenging position for a highly motivated, hardworking individual interested in developing themselves in the hospitality industry.


Responsibilities

* Hotel Operations: ensure the smooth operation of all departments within the hotel, maintain the exterior of the hotel in a presentable condition, ensure control systems are adhered to, and conduct a thorough shift pass‑over with the night team.
* Customer Service: promote excellent customer service, handle complaints and guest queries, communicate professionally with guests via telephone and email, and ensure thorough follow‑up.
* Health & Safety: ensure the health, safety and welfare of staff and guests, record all incidents, complete daily fire walks and report hazards, and implement weekly cleaning rosters for back‑of‑house areas and first aid rosters.
* People Management: lead and supervise the teams while on duty, deliver staff training, serve on hotel committees as required, and support the resolution of staff issues.
* Administration: write reports, take minutes at meetings, and support GDPR compliance.


Qualifications & Experience

* A third‑level qualification in a relevant area.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Strong hotel experience in various departments.
* Experience managing people.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Strong leadership qualities.
* Ability to deal sensitively and appropriately with confidential information.
