GEDON Executive is seeking a skilled and commercially aware Mechanical / Building Services Engineer to join our client's Dublin-based Estimation Division. This newly created, highly strategic role is designed to act as the technical backbone for the estimation team, specifically supporting the tender process for major Mechanical projects across Ireland and Europe, with a strong focus on the demanding data centre sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Documentation Review: Analyze Mechanical tender documentation to ensure technical clarity and scope integrity.
* Gap Identification: Pinpoint design gaps, coordination issues, and areas requiring clarification (via RFIs), translating complex technical information for the commercial estimators.
* Estimation Support: Provide structured technical summaries to ensure accurate cost determination and input on the commercial strategy of the bid.
* Vendor Engagement: Review equipment and sub-contractor proposals for technical compliance, develop comparisons between vendors, and ensure all exclusions are commercially addressed.
* Proposal Development: Support the drafting of the Mechanical sections of the final tender submission, including methodologies, risks, value engineering opportunities, procurement lead times, and technical schedules.
* Post-Tender Support: Participate in post-tender clarifications and remain involved in the early pre-construction phase until handover to the project delivery team.
* Site Inspections: Conduct site surveys across Ireland and Europe to verify and clarify project scope during the estimation period.
What You'll Bring
* Qualifications: Third-level Qualification in Building Services Engineering.
* Proven Experience: Minimum 7+ years' experience in a Mechanical contracting or consulting environment, ideally with exposure to pre-construction roles.
* Technical Acumen: Proven ability to interpret and review Mechanical tender designs, specifications, and technical documents for large-scale projects.
* Sector Knowledge: Prior exposure to data centre projects is highly desirable.
* Communication: Strong organisational and communication skills with an exceptional ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
* IT Skills: Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel). Familiarity with platforms such as BIM 360, Procore, or Aconex is an advantage.
* Flexibility: Willingness to travel for site surveys in Ireland and mainland Europe as required.
