Role Introduction:Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €3BN in annual revenue, operating 600 Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 16,000 people.Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase and to support this ambitious growth, we are seeking to onboard a Trading Manager who will be part of our Commercial Trading Department in ROI. The successful candidate will be a confident people person who can adopt a hands-on approach and fit into the Applegreen culture seamlessly. The role will report directly into the Head of Trading and will be based in the Group headquarter office in Park West, Dublin.Key Responsibilities:As Applegreen continues to grow, this role requires adaptability and a strong commercial focus. Core responsibilities:Commercial & Category ManagementFull accountability for category performance, including sales, margin, budget, and stockholding.Develop and execute strategic range plans for core and seasonal products.Monitor pricing policy and competitor activity to maintain market competitiveness.Supplier & Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.Lead negotiations for Joint Business Planning (JBP) and Long-Term Agreements (LTA).Identify and deliver opportunities for ancillary income.Innovation & Market InsightSource and implement new product concepts and innovations from idea to execution.Stay ahead of market trends through competitor analysis and industry insights.Process & PerformanceDrive efficiencies through process improvements and change implementation.Track and report on category performance to senior management.Collaborate with supply chain to ensure full product availability.The Candidate should have the following:Experience & SkillsMinimum 3+ years in a buying/trading management role with strong negotiation skills.Proven experience in FMCG convenience retail (essential).High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); Power BI and SAP experience highly desirable.Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret and challenge data.Key AttributesDynamic, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.Excellent organisational and project management skills.Strong collaborator with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills.Resilient under pressure with sound judgement and logical decision-making.Positive, solution-focused mindset and a 'can-do' attitude.Willingness to travel occasionally as required.Illustrative Application & Screening Process (subject to change):Application Process:Please submit an up to date tailored CV (max 2 pages) and cover letterInterview & Selection Process:Two interview rounds will be required for this role
