Area Manager - General & Laparoscopic Surgery DivisionPurpose of the Role: The principal responsibility of the Surgical Area Manager will be to provide an interface with key target customers specifically in the area of surgical products. The role will cover hospitals in the Midlands and the West.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesNote: This job description is not an exhaustive list of duties; it indicates the main responsibilities of the position.Present, demonstrate, and secure orders, working on own initiative to identify opportunities and convert them to sales.Develop relationships with key customers into lasting business partnerships.Achieve sales plans on a quarterly and annual basis.Assist customers with clinical, technical and commercial enquiries.Perform business planning and implementation throughout area of responsibility.Develop new business opportunities and determine new client and market potential.Collect, present and interpret market and competitor information systematically.Provide feedback on customers, promotional programs and environmental changes and suggest improvements to product and company performance.Implement new product launches and other corporate activities within area of responsibility.Attend relevant conferences and meetings.Key Skills & ExperiencesOverall 5+ years’ experience in clinical sales and/or commercial sales roles within the Healthcare or FMCG sectors.Medical device sales desirable but not essential; a clinical background would also be an advantage.Comfortable working in operating theatres.Target-driven with the ability to “Close” sales.Strong communication skills, delivering a positive image of the company and its products.Excellent organizational and planning skills, high reliance on personal drive and initiative.Commercially aware with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build and maintain strong customer relationships.Necessary education and practical experience to handle complex medical device technologies in a clinical background.Outgoing and persuasive personality with excellent interpersonal skills.Proficiency with general business computer tools and applications.Full driver’s License.
