With a proud history and an ambitious vision for the future, the FAI is committed to fostering excellence on and off the pitch, ensuring the game is inclusive, accessible, and a source of national pride.Purpose of the role:Reporting to the People & Culture Partner, the Payroll Officer will oversee end to end payroll operations across multiple payrolls which is reflective of our workforce and the nature of the work provided by our employees. The Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, including core staff, casual workers, and those working across multiple jurisdictions. The role ensures compliance with relevant tax, labour, and social security regulations, while maintaining accurate payroll records and providing responsive support to employees regarding payroll-related matters.Key Responsibilities:Payroll ProcessingPrepare and process payroll for multiple employee groups (core, casual, and international) across different payment cycles.Ensure the correct application of pay rates, hours worked, deductions, benefits, bonuses, and commissions.System and Vendor OversightLead out on the development and implementation of enhanced payroll systems to streamline the payroll process working closely with People & Culture and IT teams.Manage relationships with external payroll service providers where applicable.Compliance and ReportingEnsure compliance with all relevant tax, labour, and social security laws across multiple jurisdictions including the UK and Ireland.Prepare annual gender pay gap report as required in collaboration with the Finance Team.Prepare and submit statutory filings including PAYE, pension contributions, small benefit exemption and international tax returns as applicable.Audit and DocumentationMaintain accurate payroll records in accordance with internal policies and audit requirements.Prepare payroll-related reports for internal departments, auditors, and external stakeholders.Employee Support & EngagementAct as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries.Provide guidance to employees regarding payslips, deductions, taxes, and leave balances.Support the People & Culture team with ad hoc payroll-related projects as required.Any other Payroll related projects which might be assigned by People & Culture Director from time to timeThe Person:The successful candidate will have the following:Experience & QualificationsIPASS CertifiedMinimum of 3-5 years of experience managing payroll in a fast-paced environmentExperience handling multiple payrolls, including casual or part-time staff, is desirable.Skills & Professional KnowledgeKnowledge of revenue and legislative regulationsExperience in gender pay gap reportingExperience managing multiple payrolls simultaneouslyExperiencing managing casual payrolls with complexitiesProficiency in MS OfficeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent multitasking skillsStrong organizational skillsHighly developed attention to detailStrong time management skillsAbility to work with confidential informationOur BenefitsTwo premium level tickets to each home international gameSick pay scheme and family friendly leaveOpportunities to work at international matchesCompany Contribution Pension SchemeBike to work schemeFree onsite parkingEmployee assistance programmesHybrid working arrangements and flexible hours working arrangementsClosing date for receipt of applications is 12pm on Monday 26th January 2026.Shortlisting and interviews will take place shortly afterwards.The Football Association of Ireland is an equal opportunities employer.
