Electrical Engineer - Tendering & Data Centre Projects
Permanent 70-90k per year plus 10% car allowance plus package
Location: Maynooth5 days on siteMUST hold an EU passport
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong tendering and pre-construction experience, ideally within mission critical or data centre environments.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of competitive and technically compliant tender submissions for major international projects while working closely with internal delivery teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients.
This role requires a commercially aware engineer with a strong understanding of electrical systems within complex construction projects, particularly data centres and other critical infrastructure environments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and coordinate electrical tender packages for data centre and mission critical projects.
Review client specifications, drawings, technical submissions, and tender documentation.
Assist in developing electrical design solutions during pre-construction stages.
Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers during bid and negotiation phases.
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure technical compliance and commercial competitiveness.
Support value engineering exercises and identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
Prepare technical clarifications, assumptions, and risk assessments associated with tender submissions.
Assist with electrical load assessments, single line diagrams, and equipment selections.Coordinate with mechanical, civil, architectural, and planning teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
Support project handover from pre‑construction to delivery teams.
Maintain awareness of programme constraints, procurement lead times, and project risks.
Ensure compliance with Irish, UK, and EU electrical regulations and relevant industry standards.
Attend internal and external project meetings as required.
Support continuous improvement of tendering procedures, estimating systems, and technical standards.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
Proven experience in electrical tendering and pre‑construction activities.
Previous experience working on data centre, mission critical, pharmaceutical, or industrial projects.
Strong knowledge of LV/MV electrical systems, power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and critical infrastructure.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
Commercial awareness with experience reviewing subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Knowledge of Irish and EU electrical regulations and building standards.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and project delivery processes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Desirable Experience
Data centre or mission critical project experience.
Experience with BIM/CAD coordination.
Familiarity with estimating software and tender management platforms.
Knowledge of renewable energy integration and energy‑efficient systems.
Previous experience working with design‑and‑build contractors.
Understanding of commissioning and handover processes.
Certifications (Desirable)
Safe Pass / CSCS
SMSTS / SSSTS
First Aid
IOSH or equivalent safety certification
