A highly experienced
Principal Instrumentation & Calibration Engineer
is required to join a global Biotech business in
Limerick
. This is a senior engineering position within the
Maintenance & Reliability function
of a leading manufacturing site. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing
technical leadership, subject matter expertise, and regulatory assurance
in relation to instrumentation, calibration, and reliability engineering.
Key Responsibilities
* Own and manage the
site calibration programme
, ensuring compliance with health authorities and regulatory requirements.
* Provide
technical leadership
across all instrumentation systems, including reliability, equipment obsolescence, upgrades, deviations, and investigations.
* Lead
reliability improvement programmes
, analysing predictive and condition-based monitoring data to ensure maximum equipment availability.
* Support
capital and re-capitalisation projects
, including equipment specification, selection, and lifecycle management.
* Liaise with
regulatory authorities
during audits, representing the site as the SME for instrumentation and calibration.
* Develop and maintain
SOPs, job plans, and technical documentation
in line with global engineering standards.
* Deliver training and support to the Maintenance team on new equipment, technologies, and calibration standards.
* Drive
continuous improvement initiatives
to strengthen maintenance and reliability programmes.
Candidate Profile
* Level 8 Degree in
Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering
(or equivalent).
* Minimum of
5 years' experience
in a maintenance or engineering role, ideally within the
pharmaceutical industry
.
* Strong knowledge of
EU directives
(e.g. ATEX) and relevant
engineering standards
(IEC, ISO, NSAI, NEC, etc.).
* Proven expertise in
leading, developing or rolling out a site calibration programme.
* Excellent communication, report writing, and leadership skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, influence change, and drive results in a regulated environment.
