Role
Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the Senior Risk Consultant will own the implementation and embedding of a fit‑for‑purpose Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework aligned with the Central Bank of Ireland's PRISM supervision framework.
The role will interact with all business units, focusing on ORM and best practices for Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA).
Key Responsibilities
Support the operation of the ORM framework, providing oversight and challenge of incident and near‑miss recording, root‑cause analysis, and lessons learned.
Lead annual challenge and review of risk policies.
Facilitate RCSA and challenge the process.
Drive appropriate usage of the Risk Administration System and act as an advanced user.
Work closely with Line‑1 Risk & Governance representatives across the business.
Deliver training presentations on risk management topics.
Assist in developing and enhancing risk reporting for internal risk‑management committees.
Align risk support with business priorities and change programmes.
Support 2nd line of defence members and collaborate with 1st line to drive positive risk outcomes and secure executive buy‑in.
Promote and communicate good risk‑management practices internally and represent Phoenix Group to regulators (CBI).
Qualifications
Relevant professional qualification in Risk Management and 1–3 years of operational risk experience in 2nd or 3rd line of defence, or experience in 1st line operational risk management.
Strong team‑working skills and ability to influence key business stakeholders.
A challenging mindset with an appetite to understand operational risk exposures.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, able to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent oral and written presentation and communication skills.
Personal Competences
Knowledge of operational risk management, risk assessment and mitigation techniques.
Influencing skills and relationship building.
Technical knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements.
Strong communication skills.
Customer‑focused risk‑awareness culture promotion.
