Job Title: Senior Speech and Language Therapist Location: Based in Meath, Ireland, with travel required to community settings across Louth, Meath, North County Dublin, and Cavan.
About the Role: This is a permanent position for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality services to adults with complex needs in residential and community settings.
The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering assessment, intervention, and support for adults with intellectual disabilities, neurodivergent profiles, acquired brain injuries, and behaviours of concern.
The role involves both communication-focused intervention and feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing (FEDS) management.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy services, including communication and FEDS assessments and interventions Collaborate with residents/clients, families, care staff, and other clinicians to set meaningful goals Provide clinical supervision and support to junior therapists Lead or contribute to service planning and team initiatives Attend case conferences, team meetings, and training sessions Contribute to the implementation of a Total Communication approach across the service Apply evidence-based practices aligned with HIQA and HSE guidelines Support the management of complex needs, including mental health, behaviours of concern, and co-morbid conditions Deliver staff training and contribute to communication support plans Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in audits and evaluations Essential Requirements: Degree or master's in Speech and Language Therapy from a recognised institution CORU registration (or eligible for same) Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience working with adults Proven clinical skills in the management of feeding, eating, drinking, and swallowing disorders Access to own transport and full driving licence Desirable Experience: Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities, ASD, acquired brain injury, or complex needs in long-term care settings Training in AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) Lmh training certification Previous experience at Senior Grade level Experience in MDT collaboration and service planning Skills Required: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Leadership and team development capabilities Strong time management and organisational skills Commitment to person-centred care and continuous professional development Proficient in IT and documentation Ability to provide staff training and support Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience Additional Information: Access to clinical supervision and professional development opportunities A supportive, multidisciplinary work environment Opportunity to contribute to innovation and service improvement Skills: speech therapy
