As a Road Design Lead, you will oversee roads, public transport, Active Travel, and public realm schemes through all project stages, including feasibility, optioneering, planning, detailed design, and construction. You will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and compliant, and engage confidently with clients and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a Degree-level qualification (Level 8/9) in Civil Engineering or related discipline, be a Chartered Engineer (or near chartership), and have extensive consultancy experience delivering multi-disciplinary transport projects in Ireland or the UK. Experience in Employer Design and Design & Build projects, full design packs, statutory processes, contract documentation, and construction supervision is essential. A full Irish/EU driving licence is required.
The ideal Road Design Lead is an excellent communicator, self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently or collaboratively. You will have strong technical knowledge across road design elements including geometry, drainage, utilities, geotechnics, pavement, signage, and vehicle restraint systems, and be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, MicroDrainage, and Navisworks.
