Caretaker/Groundskeeper for The Mill Family Resource Center plays a vital role in ensuring the center is safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for families and community members. The role often combines building maintenance, security, and groundskeeping duties, tailored to the unique needs of a community-focused facility.
Primary Role — The caretaker/groundskeeper is responsible for the overall upkeep of the building and surrounding grounds, ensuring that the Family Resource Center provides a clean, safe, and functional environment for families, staff, and visitors.
* Key Responsibilities
o Building Maintenance — Perform minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry). Monitor and report any major maintenance issues to management. Maintain lighting and other facility systems. Ensure all rooms and common areas are safe and functional.
o Cleaning and Sanitization — Clean common areas (lobby, meeting rooms, restrooms). Sanitize high-touch surfaces daily to ensure health and safety. Manage waste disposal and recycling.
o Groundskeeping — Maintain outdoor areas (lawns, gardens, parking lots, walkways). Remove snow, ice, or debris for safe access. Inspect and maintain outdoor lighting and signage.
o Security and Safety — Open and close the facility as per schedule. Ensure doors, windows, and gates are secured. Conduct safety checks (fire extinguishers, alarms). Report any safety hazards or suspicious activity.
o Support for Events and Programs — Set up and rearrange rooms for events, workshops, and activities. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed. Assist staff with technical or logistical setup when required.
