The role involves overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department. This will be achieved by effectively managing a team of nursing and allied staff, while maintaining and developing professional standards within the department.

Key duties and responsibilities include supporting the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) and Staff Nurses in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical practice. This will involve utilizing best available evidence to influence innovations in practice and promote quality care for patients.

In addition, the post holder will act as a resource person on clinical issues, utilizing skills and knowledge of various clinical conditions. They will also assist Staff Nurses to move towards the next level of expert practitioner in the clinical management of patient care, while guiding CNMs in creating an environment that enhances continuous lifelong personal and professional development for all nursing staff.

Prior experience in an acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area is essential, with a minimum of 5 years' experience post-registration. A Level 9 postgraduate qualification is also required. The successful candidate will possess excellent keyboard skills, teaching, and assessing skills, as well as experience in working with healthcare patient record systems.

Key qualifications and requirements:

1. Registered General Nurse with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)

2. 5 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area

3. Level 9 postgraduate qualification
