Offer description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a PhD Graduate or experienced Scientist to join a leading Medical Devices company in Longford. This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience in ELISA, Western Blotting, or Laboratory Diagnostics, who are eager to apply critical thinking to the development of innovative medical device products.
Responsibilities

Independently manage product and process improvement projects from initiation through to completion
Monitor laboratory and manufacturing processes, identify trends or deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions
Develop, maintain, and continuously review risk management documentation and files in line with regulatory requirements
Lead technical investigations, perform root cause analysis, resolve complex issues, and support internal and external audits
Design and execute scientific experiments, analyse data using statistical tools, and provide clear, data-driven recommendations
Provide technical support to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment on product and process improvements
Present technical findings and project updates to stakeholders and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams
Mentor and support junior team members, promoting best practices and continuous learning
Drive product availability and reliability through proactive problem-solving and process optimisation
Deliver cost-effective improvements while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance

Requirements

PhD (completed or thesis submitted) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Life Sciences) or equivalent experience
Minimum 2+ years’ relevant industry or academic experience (PhD preferred)
Hands-on experience with ELISA, Western Blotting, or diagnostic laboratory techniques
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience with experimental design, statistical analysis, and project management tools
Ability to work independently as an individual contributor
Knowledge of product/process development, standardisation, and control methodologies
Proven ability to resolve recurring technical challenges and drive innovation
