Our Senior Automation Engineers manage, execute, and provide technical support for automation of new and existing industrial systems in a regulated environment. They serve as site experts and key technical resources on process and machine control systems for manufacturing. They support the site’s strategy in Dungarvan, Waterford, by ensuring automated production equipment is available to produce when needed. This role manages small project teams comprising internal and external stakeholders to deliver complex automation control projects on time and within budget.
Job Responsibilities
1. Specify, design, and deliver automation control systems for production process measurement and control of Quality Critical Attributes (QCA) and associated Critical Process Parameters (CPP) to ensure predictable and stable process operations.
2. Design, manage, and execute multiple high-value complex automation projects from concept to completion, supporting site operations while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, company standards, operational requirements, budget, time, and business needs. Verify equipment suitability and ensure vendor contracts contain appropriate technical specifications for automation control systems.
3. Provide training and support for onsite users and engineers in automation technologies and applications.
4. Offer subject matter expertise during regulatory inspections and interact with auditors as needed.
5. Assist in preparing large-scale project estimates aligned with department objectives.
6. Develop validation documentation in collaboration with Quality Engineers, manage change control processes for automation, and oversee project document development.
7. Ensure timely compliance records for the Automation Engineering Department.
Skills and Experience Requirements
* BSc. in Engineering; Control Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Chemical Engineering preferred, with focus on Control Systems, Computerized Systems, Networking, or Mechatronics.
* Multiple years of experience in automation within an enterprise-level, highly regulated manufacturing environment.
* Hands-on programming and troubleshooting skills for automation, instrumentation, and IT systems.
* Proven ability to interface effectively with operational and senior management.
