Project Coral represents a significant ICT transformation programme within Beaumont Hospital introducing the Orbis Order Comms solution, IPM, and Orbis ED systems to streamline patient flow, clinical documentation, and operational management. These systems provide a robust foundation for patient-centred, data-driven care.
The Trainer will play a pivotal role in supporting the Informatics Model of Support by delivering high-quality, targeted training to staff across all clinical and operational areas. The post holder will ensure that staff are confident and competent in using Orbis, IPM, Orbis ED, and associated digital tools, and will support the development and utilisation of reporting dashboards through Power BI.
The role is essential for maximising adoption, embedding best practice workflows, and realising the operational and clinical benefits of digital implementations.
Job Purpose
To develop, coordinate, and deliver training programmes that enhance digital literacy, system competence, and confidence across Beaumont Hospital. The Trainer will:
1. Support the effective adoption of digital systems (e.g. Orbis, IPM, Orbis ED).
2. Provide structured education and support for clinical and operational staff.
3. Collaborate with informatics teams to ensure training aligns with workflow optimisation and organisational goals.

Responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Training Design and Delivery
o Develop comprehensive training materials tailored to different user groups, including e-learning modules, manuals, and quick-reference guides.
o Deliver in-person, virtual, and on-the-job training sessions to clinical and operational teams.
o Ensure training addresses practical use digital solutions, e.g Orbis, IPM, and Orbis ED systems, as well as reporting via Power BI.
o Adapt training content to meet evolving system updates and user needs.
2. Staff Support and Coaching
o Provide one-to-one support for staff experiencing challenges with digital systems.
o Act as a point of contact for workflow queries, technical issues, and best practice guidance.
o Assist with the creation, configuration, and activation of user accounts, ensuring correct access levels and permissions across digital systems.
o Encourage a culture of continuous learning and system proficiency across all departments.
3. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
o Identify gaps in knowledge or skill and propose targeted interventions.
o Work with the Training, informatics Leads and Project Manager to implement improvements in training delivery and content.
o Ensure that staff can leverage data insights to support clinical and operational decision making.
4. Change Management Support
o Actively support staff in adopting new digital workflows.
o Provide guidance on integrating new systems into clinical and operational routines.
o Help embed a culture of digital confidence and innovation across the organisation.

Qualifications
Selection Criteria:
Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.
Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.
Mandatory:
Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
(i) Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory
health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section
38 of the Health Act 2004.
Or
(ii) Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects
in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including
Mathematics and English or Irish1
. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C
on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination.
Or
(iii) Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent
examination in another jurisdiction
Or
(iv) Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the
National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland,
(QQI).
Note 1
Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher level papers. A pass in a
foundation level paper is not acceptable.
Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established
programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.
The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.

(b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office.
1. Age
Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occurs.

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of
undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
