Role OverviewImpact Engineering is partnering with a leading global pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation, to hire aSenior Siemens S7 Automation Engineer.The successful candidate will join theMSA teamand take technical ownership of thePLC layer across multiple site-wide automation upgrade projects. This role will focus primarily onSiemens S7 PLC systems, includinglegacy to modern platform upgrades, while interfacing withDeltaV DCS systemsand a wide range of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment.This is asenior, hands-on engineering rolerequiring strong technical leadership, structured execution, and experience working inregulated GMP environments.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the PLC scope for multiple automation upgrade projects within a live pharmaceutical manufacturing environmentDeliver Siemens S7 PLC upgrades, including S7-300 to S7-1500 migrationsPerform PLC software design, development, testing, and commissioningSupport and implement PLC–DCS interfaces, including integration with Emerson DeltaVWork with a wide range of OEM and vendor equipment (process skids, utilities, packaging, and ancillary systems)Participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activitiesEnsure all automation activities comply with GMP, GAMP 5, and site quality standardsSupport change management, system lifecycle documentation, and validation deliverablesCollaborate with cross-functional teams including MSA, Validation, Engineering, IT, and OperationsAct as a technical reference point for Siemens PLC systems on siteRequired Experience & SkillsDegree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, or Software Engineering (or equivalent experience)Strong hands-on experience with Siemens S7 PLC platformsS7-300, S7-400, and S7-1500TIA PortalProven experience delivering PLC upgrade projects in an industrial environmentPrior exposure to S7-300 → S7-1500 migrations is highly desirableExperience working in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with DeltaV interfaces or DCS integration is a strong advantageUnderstanding of GMP, GAMP 5, and regulated system lifecycle requirementsExperience with FAT/SAT, commissioning, and troubleshootingStrong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to work independently while leading technical scopes within a project team
