Mechanical Design Engineer, Data Centre Engineering

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who will design mechanical services systems for new build data centre projects across EMEA, support acoustic analysis, conduct CFD studies, manage design consultants, coordinate with utilities and agencies, drive design and construction phases, provide technical support during commissioning, and lead cross-functional teams.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the group and internal/external teams that support data centres.
Perform, understand, and report on CFD studies; evaluate design decisions impact on building and campus layouts.
Work with internal teams to understand user requirements.
Participate in site selection reviews.
Manage design consultancy firms to create, review, and release data centre designs.
Manage change, versioning, and configuration control.
Work with local utilities to define site utility requirements.
Define and approve project scopes, RFPs, and RFIs.
Work with local agencies having jurisdiction (AHJ) to ensure compliance with city/county requirements and building codes.
Validate installation, operation, and performance of systems with commissioning teams.
Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
Travel for site review and conduct engineering evaluations, audits, and site launches.
Review and approve equipment submittals.
Troubleshoot problems and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action (CA) for design-related problems.
Support construction phases and provide technical support for information requests.
Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical equipment.
Provide creative, out-of-the-box solutions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities such as data centres, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data centre equipment and facilities.
Experience in commissioning.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer License.
Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment into mass production.
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
