Your role will involve supporting the administrative and organisational needs of the Societys active challenge (marathons, mini marathons, treks) fundraising program to deliver a positive experience for supporters and to maximise fundraising outcomes.If you are a self-motivated, innovative, team player, passionate about raising funds to support vital services for cancer patients and their families, we want to hear from youWhilst experience in fundraising would be advantageous, we have a strong and experienced team that can support the right candidate in developing necessary skills. Individuals with a customer relations, administration or data management background who have skills aligned with those detailed below and a strong interest in making a difference, would be equally suitable for this role and encouraged to apply.What Youll DoThe overall objectives of the role are to:Ensure efficient and timely administration of active challenge activities.Deliver accurate and timely reporting.Review and ensure accuracy of system information.Work with the Active Challenges Officer and Community Fundraising Manager to identify possible new opportunities for growth within the active challenges remit.Manage, motivate and inspire active challenge supporters to maximise fundraising outcomes.Provide an environment of support and stewardship to ensure we retain supporters.Key AccountabilitiesData, reporting and administrationEnsure accurate and up to date financial and supporter records are maintained and accessible through the Societys fundraising database (Dynamics).Work with the Societys finance team to ensure income is correctly recorded and allocated and review finance reports to identify and manage re-coding as may be required.Work with the finance team to process refunds as may be required including matched giving funds relating to supporter active challenge activities.Ensure data from external platforms is transferred into Dynamics accurately and efficiently and conduct cleansing checks to maintain accuracy.Review and update templates, emails and agreements as required upon commencement of new campaigns.Ensure all active challenge supporters are correctly registered through third party platforms as may be required to participate in their activity.Ensure all relevant participant agreements are completed, returned and stored appropriately.Provide supporters with relevant items such as singlets, sponsorship cards, posters etc. to help support and maximise their fundraising.Work with relevant CRM team members to ensure efficient and effective integration of active challenge registration and reporting information.Work with third party active challenge providers to ensure effective transfer of supporter information between platforms.Handle cash, banking of funds and acknowledgment and receipting of income in accordance with Society policies and procedures.Maintain confidentiality regarding supporter information at all times, and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.Event SupportWork with the Active Challenges Officer to deliver and attend supporter events and activations.Ensure event items are stored appropriately in the office and monitor items to ensure sufficient levels to deliver on needs.Putting The Supporter FirstBe the first point of contact for our supporters, providing the highest standard of supporter care through a warm, engaging and compassionate attitude and managing, maintaining and building relationships with supporters to maximise outcomes.??Respond to supporter enquiries, expressions of interest and ad hoc needs as required in a professional and timely manner.Identify and recommend products, platforms and methods that best match supporter needs in order to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising activities.Provide relevant event and support acknowledgement updates for promotion on Irish Cancer Society media channels.Identify opportunities for case studies.Promote awareness of all aspects of the Society to active challenge supporters.Work with relevant internal resources to ensure appropriate recognition and acknowledgement of supporter achievements.Fundraising Best Practice And SupportBe fully conversant with all fundraising regulations, in particular the Charities Regulator, Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public, as they relate to active challenge fundraising activities and ensure that the Irish Cancer Society complies with all relevant requirements and that supporters are made aware of their obligations.Keep up-to-date with current issues and developments in fundraising. Undertake training as necessary.Provide occasional support in the event another area within the team or department has an urgent need.Assist with special projects as required or self-determined to enhance the Societys fundraising capacity and/or program objectives.Who You AreThe right candidate for this role is:Passionate about raising fundsto ensure the continued delivery of key services, supports, advice and research to cancer patients and their familiesA people person:whether it is meeting a member of the public at an event, working with colleagues and volunteers, negotiating with third party providers or engaging with supporters, you understand what makes people tick, and create effective, lasting relationships.A great communicator: you are able to communicate effectively across multiple channels (face-to-face, written, digital) and adopt your style to meet the audience where they are.Technologically savvy:you are comfortable using digital and technology tools, including digital marketing and social media content and identifying new ways that technology can support fundraising.An effective administrator:you have proven experience in administration and a demonstrated commitment to delivering efficient data and reporting results.An innovative self-starterwith initiative, drive and an ability to work independently, think creatively, and identify opportunities.Flexible and open to travel:You may spend some time travelling. Ideally, you will have access to a car to enable you to travel as required, or be able to fulfil the travel requirements. There may also be evening and weekend work required to ensure you can engage with active challenge fundraising events in the community.Your Qualifications And ExperienceProven track record of managing data and ensuring clean and accurate reporting outcomes.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, in particular Word and Excel.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or activities at once.Excellent and engaging communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships with supporters and co-workers.Proven understanding of the customer / supporter journey and be able to demonstrate your ability to apply this to a fundraising setting.Proven ability to identify and prioritise activities to provide effective return on investment and to maximise outcomes.Experience using a fundraising database system (such as Microsoft Dynamics or similar).The closing date for applications is Friday 6th February 2026Please note all CVs are logged through a third-party system for processingThe Irish Cancer Society is an equal opportunity employer.
