Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the health and safety management system. This is a key operational role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent leadership capability, and a proactive approach to embedding a culture of safety excellence throughout the organisation. Ensure that all operations comply with Irish legislation, internal standards, and recognised industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems tailored to a chemical manufacturing environment.
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety Authority (HSA) regulations and applicable legislation.
* Track and report on safety performance KPIs, including Frequency Rates, Observations, and Good Catches.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements to reduce risks and environmental impacts.
* Lead and coordinate risk assessments, process safety reviews, and hazard identification studies.
* Manage and oversee audits, inspections, and monitoring programmes, ensuring regulatory compliance (including SDS development and implementation).
* Ensure consistent compliance across multiple sites (in-house and external).
* Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* Provide expert guidance, advice, and training to management and frontline teams.
* Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory authorities, auditors, and third-party stakeholders.
* Foster and strengthen a culture of safety through engagement, communication, and visible leadership.
* Deliver regular health and safety performance reports to the senior leadership team.
* Manage and drive health and safety improvement initiatives across the business.

Requirements
* Minimum Degree-level qualification in Health & Safety, Occupational Health, or related discipline.
* In-depth knowledge of HSA requirements, chemical safety, and process safety legislation.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within chemical manufacturing or process industries.
* Proven track record in implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
* Experience in managing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance (advantageous).
* Demonstrated expertise in risk management, process safety, and incident investigation methodologies.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
* Must hold a valid working visa/permit for Ireland.
