Job Description
Our client, PJ Martley Limited, based in Portlaoise, Co. Laois, is currently seeking Bus Mechanics for immediate start for their facility in Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
Qualifications: 3 years’ of previous experience as a Bus Mechanic is required. Mechanic certification preferred but not essential. There are no minimum academic requirements. Further training will be provided on‑the‑job as required.
Responsibilities
Maintain, diagnose and repair a fleet of buses to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.
Perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance on buses.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension.
Identify and rectify faults using diagnostic equipment and manual troubleshooting methods.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet safety and regulatory standards.
Carry out emergency roadside repairs when required.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
Adhere to workplace safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Work as part of a team to ensure an efficient and timely maintenance schedule.
Provide technical support and guidance to apprentices or junior mechanics.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, air brakes, and diagnostics.
Ability to identify and address mechanical issues accurately.
Competent to identify and carry out preventive and reactive maintenance on a fleet of passenger buses.
Competent to use diagnostic tools, computer software, and manual troubleshooting techniques to identify and fix issues.
At least 3 years of previous experience as a Bus Mechanic.
Mechanic certification preferred but not essential.
Salary and Compensation
Annual remuneration: €36,605.00; Pay rate €18.05 per hour.
