Position Title: Assistant Librarian (12-month FTC)

To ensure that we have the right structures in place to support the achievement of our goals we are currently recruiting for an Assistant Librarian to join our Library and Knowledge Team on a 12-month fixed term contract.
The Assistant Librarian will work with our Legal Information Manager and Assistant Librarian to provide an excellent legal information service to the firm and its clients.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Librarian will have responsibility for:
* Delivering effective training in the use of the firm’s information resources, to enable fee-earners and trainees to develop their legal research and information literacy skills;
* Updating and maintaining training manuals and user guides;
* Serials receipt and distribution;
* Cataloguing and maintenance of hard-copy and digital resources;
* Legal and business research and enquiry work;
* Looseleaf filing and shelving;
* Administrative tasks;
* Other duties as required.
Requirements
* A strong primary degree;
* An accredited qualification in library and information studies, or working towards same;
* Previous experience working in a legal information service (desirable, not essential);
* Previous experience designing and delivering end-user training (desirable, not essential);
* Familiarity with legal or business information resources (desirable, not essential);
* Keen interest in library training and education;
* Strong IT skills with a demonstrable interest in emerging technologies and developments;
* Accuracy and attention to detail;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
* Excellent critical thinking skills;
* Strong organisational and time-management skills; and
* The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
