The EHS Specialist plays a key role in strengthening Vantive’s safety culture and ensuring full compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations across the Castlebar and Swinford sites. This position provides technical expertise, leads critical EHS programs, and partners with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement in safety performance, environmental stewardship, and risk reduction.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
Implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS policies, procedures, and site programs.
Ensure compliance with national and local EHS regulations, corporate standards, and ISO‑aligned management systems.
Provide expert regulatory guidance to site leadership, engineering, operations, and support teams.
Support in the preparation, reviewing, and submitting of regulatory, corporate, and facility EHS reports.
Environmental Management
Support with:
Management of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste programs, including vendor oversight and compliance with waste legislation.
Evaluating environmental impacts of new processes, equipment, and projects; support environmental permitting and sustainability initiatives.
Conducting environmental audits and driving corrective actions.
Health & Safety Risk Management
Support with:
Ensuring all equipment, tasks, chemicals, and ergonomic risks are assessed and controlled.
Performing EHS change management reviews for new equipment, processes, and facility modifications.
Conduct routine inspections, GEMBA walks, and internal audits to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
Incident Prevention & Response
Lead or support incident investigations, ensuring robust root‑cause analysis and timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Coordinate and strengthen the Emergency Response Team program, including training, drills, and readiness.
Additional requirements
Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement through communication, coaching, and EHS promotional activities.
Maintain and report EHS KPIs, ensuring visibility of performance trends and progress.
Support with EHS improvement projects aligned with site and corporate objectives.
Contribute to cross‑functional improvement teams.
Document, track, and promote EHS observations to strengthen hazard awareness and risk reduction.
Education and experience required
Third‑level qualification in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related EHS discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in an EHS role within manufacturing or another highly regulated environment.
Demonstrated experience managing or supporting EHS programs, including risk assessments, training, and compliance activities.
Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 standards is highly desirable.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
