AdvertisementMedical Laboratory Aide - PermanentApplications are invited for the position of Medical Laboratory Aide in the histology laboratory, the successful candidate will assist scientific personnel in the provision of a laboratory service in St. Vincent's University Hospital.Essential CriteriaEligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:Have previous experience of work in a hospital laboratory or science laboratory orBe currently employed with no less than 12 months experience in the Irish Health Service orHold a qualification to minimum standard of Quality & Qualifications Ireland Level 5 (or higher) in Laboratory SkillsCommunicationTeam working/Building effective relationshipsHealth & SafetyPersonal DevelopmentProcedures/ Legislation & QualityPerson Centered FocusFlexibility & AdaptabilityTechnical SkillsDesirable CriteriaA science qualificationExperience in use of IT systems, preferably a Laboratory Information systemExperience of working in a laboratoryKey ResponsibilitiesSpecimen reception, checking, sorting and labelling of specimensPatient and request order entry on to the laboratory information systemAssisting in the post analytical process including the filing and storage of samples, blocks and slides, sample archiving and disposalDealing with enquiries and delivery of specimens at histology receptionOperation of pre-analytical equipment.
