Role

We are hiring a Homemaker to help create a homely environment where every meal and every moment matters. Craddock House Nursing Home is seeking a full-time Homemaker (37.5 hrs) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be flexible and must have the ability to work weekdays and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

* Greeting and welcoming all visitors to the House.
* Creating meaningful events and activities for the residents which are both planned and unplanned.
* Welcoming, assisting with the planning of meals and mealtimes and organizing and serving the meals to the residents in the House in a person-centred way, showing flexibility, awareness of individual needs/preferences and choice.
* Maintaining residents' fluid and food intake charts where necessary and keeping the Nurse/Carer Lead informed of same.
* Liaising with the House team/catering on any changes in the dietary requirements for residents and reporting any changes in residents' eating patterns to the Nurse/Carer Lead in the House.
* Ensuring that the kitchenette is kept clean and tidy and running smoothly.
* Ensuring that all cleaning jobs are completed within their span of duty.
* Cleaning tasks include washing dishes, sweeping and washing the kitchen floors and the dining area after meals.
* Ensuring that the fridge is kept clean, free from spillages and defrosted weekly and that any out-of-date food is disposed of.
* Ensuring that the cooker and microwave are kept clean.
* Keeping all areas within the kitchenette and storage areas clean and tidy and well maintained.
* Ensuring that all equipment is clean and well maintained, complying with local and national infection control guidelines.
* Disinfecting equipment and surfaces that come into contact with food (e.g., chopping boards, sinks, storage containers, knives).
* Familiarity with Craddock House Policy on Food Safety and the associated House Rules and cleaning schedules and complete relevant records.
* Ensuring laundering or replacement of cleaning cloths, tea towels, residents serviettes, etc. as needed.
* Locking away cleaning agents and chemicals out of reach from residents; keeping the domestic laundry room locked when not in use and detergents safely stored.
* Keeping the connecting door into the kitchen closed at all times.
* Carrying out any other additional responsibilities as directed by the Director of Care and/or Person in Charge.

* To focus on a person-centered approach whilst maintaining Craddock House's policies and procedures.
* To respect privacy, dignity and to promote confidentiality within a warm, homely setting.
* To be able to work within a team, showing respect while recognizing the skills and abilities of others as we are all individuals.
* To maintain open communication at all levels.
* To represent Craddock House professionally and positively at all times in communications with residents, visitors and staff.
* To comply with Craddock House's Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
* Maintain confidentiality regarding all issues and information relating to residents and Craddock House.
* To contribute to the protection of vulnerable adults from abuse.
* To maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and tidiness within your household.
* To report any ill-health, accident or incident concerning any resident to the Staff Nurse.
* To attend training days and courses, on or off site, as required.
* To attend meetings as required.
* To complete all documentation relating to a resident and all communications with your team clearly.
* To uphold the Values of your household.
* To report any damage or breakage of equipment, fixtures and fittings.
* To support new staff members and volunteers providing help and guidance where appropriate.
* To carry out such other reasonable duties, appropriate to the role as may be required.
