Our work directly strengthens Ireland’s electricity infrastructure and directly supports ESB’s Net Zero 2040 strategy, enabling a more resilient and sustainable energy future.The Electrical (Cables) or Energy Systems Engineer will play a key role in the delivery of engineering projects for ESB. This role involves close collaboration with design teams, ESB partners, and Contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in conceptual design of high voltage cable transmission and distribution circuits and interfaces with substations and overhead line equipmentSupport detailed design including cable and accessory type / ratings, trenching and ducting systems, bonding systems and all other aspects of HV cable designParticipate in due diligence reviews of internal and external designs to ensure compliance with relevant specificationsContribute to design risk assessments for all engineering deliverablesProvide technical input to project teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure quality and compliance with standardsCo-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders to progress projects through all lifecycle stages and governance gates – from concept stage through to constructionExperience and QualificationsLevel 8 Electrical or Energy Systems Engineering Degree or equivalentMinimum 3 years of relevant experienceProven ability to contribute to the management of significant projects or key aspects of projectsGood safety awareness and communication skillsValid driver's license for ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwideWorking towards Chartership in a recognized professional institutionExperience in utility or linear infrastructure projects, manufacturing or contractingGood commercial and project management skillsExperience in performing the role of designer on projectsLocationThis position will be base d in ESB E&MP’s Offices in Dublin o r Eastgate Cork .ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working.
