About Us
At CoolPlanet, we provide intelligent, data-driven solutions for energy efficiency and have grown in expertise to become the foremost multi-disciplinary energy services company. Our client base includes large energy-consuming organisations from the industrial, food & beverage and commercial sectors across the globe.
We develop and design innovative energy efficiency solutions tailored specifically to each client site by examining, modelling and analysing operational data, processes and equipment. Our approach is grounded in robust data analysis, digital tools and engineering expertise to identify, quantify and implement energy conservation measures across multiple departments and functions within client organisations.
The Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer or graduate to join a growing energy services company and develop their skills within a data-led engineering environment.
In this role, the Junior Solutions Engineer will support engineering teams involved in energy assessments, solution development and project delivery activities across client sites. The role spans multiple stages of the project lifecycle and multiple internal teams, with a strong emphasis on using data, digital tools and structured analysis to inform engineering decisions.
The Junior Solutions Engineer is not expected to lead site assessments or projects at the outset and will work under guidance from Intermediate and Senior engineers while developing technical capability, system understanding and confidence.
The Junior Solutions Engineer role is designed as the first step in a structured engineering progression path, with exposure to the same systems, workflows and CPOS-led analytical approach used by Intermediate and Senior engineers, and increasing responsibility as capability and experience develop.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with cross-functional teams and personnel (mechanical, electrical, process, thermal, refrigeration, software, IT, automation and instrumentation) to support engineering studies and energy-related assessments
* Support the collection, validation and analysis of site energy, utility and process data to enable data-driven engineering insights
* Use CoolPlanet's internal tools and platforms, including CPOS, to support analysis, modelling and evaluation of energy performance and improvement opportunities
* Develop energy-saving calculations, models and draft sections of technical reports and internal or client-facing documentation under supervision
* Assist with Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Detailed Design (EDD) activities, including preparation of design documentation, specifications and drawings
* Participate in internal design reviews, knowledge sharing, technical training and continuous improvement initiatives
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
* Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Energy Systems or a related discipline
* Graduate-level candidates with no prior professional experience are welcome, while prior experience or exposure to engineering, energy, data analysis or industrial environments is considered advantageous
* Strong analytical mindset with an interest in using data to understand systems and inform decisions
* Ability to follow defined engineering and analytical processes and work effectively under technical guidance
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* Willingness to adapt to new tools, technologies and data-driven ways of working
Desirable Skills and Experience
* A Master's qualification in an energy-related field of study is desirable
* Professional accreditations such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar are desirable, but not required at the Junior level
* Any exposure to food & beverage manufacturing, industrial or large energy-consuming sites is advantageous
* Foundational knowledge or academic exposure to one or more of the following systems is desirable, with the expectation that capability will develop over time:
* Thermal systems (steam and hot water)
* Refrigeration and cooling systems
* Compressed air systems
* Industrial heat pump technologies
* Renewable energy technologies
* Interest in data analytics, digital engineering tools, automation or performance monitoring platforms
* Strong interest in AI tooling, large language models and data-driven engineering approaches, particularly where applied to analysis, modelling, reporting or workflow efficiency
* Any experience demonstrating curiosity, experimentation or innovation in technical or analytical workflows is considered highly attractive
Location
This position will be based primarily out of CoolPlanet's Powerscourt House office in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.
Given the learning-focused nature of the Junior role, on-site (office) presence is expected, particularly during the early stages of the role, to support mentoring, collaboration and technical development. Limited flexibility for remote working may be considered as experience and capability development.
The role may involve customer and client site visits, including occasional international travel, typically alongside more experienced engineers.
Options to temporarily relocate to a particular region may be considered as the role progresses.
Benefits
* Private medical insurance
* Company pension
* Employee Share Option Scheme
* Company social events
* Career growth with dedicated upskilling time.
* Bike to work scheme
* Lunch provided on site
* Gym on site
* Refer A Friend Incentive: Earn €2,000 per referral
* Devices: Company phone and laptop
