Senior Cardiac Physiologist – UPMC Ireland

Overview Of Role

We are hiring a Senior/Cardiac Physiologist on a part‑time basis to fulfil a key position in our Pre Assessment Clinic. Hours of work will be 16 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Candidates must be flexible to provide a Saturday service if required.

Location: Sports Surgery Clinic

Job type: Permanent (Part‑time 16 hrs per week)


Primary Duties And Responsibilities

* participate in setting standards and satisfying expectations in the quality of care.
* be aware of the role as a professional and undertake practice within the relevant framework.
* ensure strict confidentiality in relation to the patient’s records and facilitate adherence with UMPC SSC policy in relation to the Data Protection Act (1998).
* participate in the work practices already established within the Department.
* be aware of legislation and amendments governing or affecting Cardiac Physiologists and/or Allied Health Professionals and issues of Health and Safety.
* ensure the quality of documentation of reports is in accordance with local service and professional standards.
* communicate verbally and/or in writing results, data interpretation and reports to the relevant team and consultants in accordance with service policy.
* participate as part of a multi‑disciplinary team as appropriate, communicating and working in cooperation with other team members.
* ensure that all reasonable precautions and safeguards are implemented for the provision of a safe work environment for all persons and clients required to be in the Department in accordance with Current Health & Safety at Work legislation.
* assume responsibility for their own learning and development needs with evidence of commitment to on‑going professional development.
* exercise initiative and diplomacy when dealing with patient care issues.
* keep accurate and complete client records in accordance with documentation policy.
* attend all mandatory training and ensure compliance with hospital policy.
* ensure the safe, economical and correct use of all hospital equipment.
* report faulty equipment to the relevant Department.
* ensure that appropriate stocks levels of consumables are available and that stocks are replenished.
* ensure that accurate reports of any accidents/incidents which may occur are completed.
* adhere to the safe custody of patient belongings and valuables as per hospital policy.
* be willing to be deployed to other areas suitable to level of competence if/when required.


Qualifications & Experience

* BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin);
* Equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurements Science (IICMS) or Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science awarded on or before 2005;
* Certificate in Medical Physics and Psychological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology;
* minimum of 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) relevant post qualification experience as a Cardiac Physiologist;
* requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office;
* ability to conduct all technical aspects of Cardiac Physiology testing.


Post Specific Requirements

* Be competent in performing and reporting transthoracic echocardiography. Perform resting ECGs.
* Pacemaker and ICD/CRT programming for theatre.
* Report procedure findings and highlight abnormal findings.


Desired

* BSE in Echocardiography or EACVI Adult transthoracic Echocardiography accreditation.
* IT skills.
