Westport AdventureJOB DESCRIPTION - Adventure Instructor (R1)Objectives of the RoleReporting to: Adventure Management TeamThe ideal candidate should have an interest and background in outdoor activities and have the ability to deliver fun adventure activities to our guests.This role will have responsibility for delivery and supervision of activity sessions, on their designated Adventure Park activities, to provide a safe, consistent, and quality guest experience.Job PurposeTo deliver and supervise safe, informative, and well-structured activity sessions in the Adventure Park and related activity sites.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure delivery of Adventure sessions in a safe environment in an atmosphere of respect and enjoyment.To deliver sessions / activities only within the scope of their qualifications, training, and experience.Adhere to all company policies especially in relation to activity SOPs and other safety parameters.Follow the safety culture and at all times put the safety and wellbeing of yourself, your customers, and your fellow staff members to the forefront of your priorities.Ensure all your equipment is used correctly and returned neatly to storage in the gear shed. Carry out pre session PPE checks in line with training and experience.Report any issues with PPE, structures, sites or equipment to the Senior Instructors or Adventure management team.Follow procedures in the Emergency Action Plan, under guidance of senior Adventure staff.Support the completion of daily inspections of all elements on your daily Adventure sites according to best practice industry guidelines, and under the direct guidance of the SI / AMT in your relevant site.Protect the environment and educate by example and promotion of environmentally friendly practices.Contribute positively to the public profile of the company in your presentation, (wear uniform), friendly approachable demeanour, and punctuality.WORK BASED TRAINING AORAdventure Instructor Rescue 1 (R1). Will be trained and assessed to work at height using instructor access PPE, in line with Standard Operational procedures and ERCA / NGB best practice. Instructors R1 will be trained and permitted to access and assist clients on rope and climbing based courses for which they have current and up to date CPD, training, assessment, and approval by a technical expert.Instructors R1 arenot permittedto activate or undertake course or client evacuations, however they may be asked to assist an evacuation under direct guidance of an R2 or higher Instructor.Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Skills:A background in leisure and activity experience and / or Instruction.Knowledge of the outdoor activities or leisure sector.Experience instructing on adventure activities and related facilities desirable.Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.Ability to follow and apply standards in line with sector specific Training based on Risk assessments, Safety Procedures and Operational guidelines.Able to deliver centre activities. Within remit of training, qualification, and experience.
