Conaty Food and Catering Supplies is one of Ireland's leading catering suppliers into the hospitality industry. Established in 1970, Conaty Food and Catering Supplies delivers more than 18,000 catering, food and equipment products into our customer base of over 2,000 hotels, bars, restaurants and coffee shops. Our Blanchardstown depot hosts Ireland’s largest hospitality showrooms.
We are currently seeking to hire a Hygiene Specialist to join our Sales team. The Hygiene Specialist is responsible for conducting on-site hygiene audits at customer premises to assess cleaning practices, product usage, compliance standards, and documentation processes.
This role is ideally suited to a sales orientated professional who enjoys building client relationships and identifying value-adding solutions. Itcombines technical expertise, compliance knowledge and consultative engagement. The Hygiene Specialist will evaluate existing hygiene systems, identify gaps and risks, recommend best-practice solutions and create structured improvement plans.
A key component of the role is collaborating with the Sales Team to transition audit findings into tailored product and service recommendations, ensuring customers receive both compliant and commercially appropriate solutions. This position offers the opportunity to directly influence revenue growth by converting technical insight into customer-focused commercial outcomes
Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Conduct structured hygiene audits at customer locations.
Engage proactively with sales representatives to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for service or product enhancement.
Review cleaning products currently in use and assess suitability, effectiveness, and cost-efficiency.
Evaluate cleaning methods, frequency schedules, and application techniques.
Inspect hygiene-critical areas for compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
Identify contamination risks, inefficiencies, and non-compliance issues.

2. Compliance & Standards Assessment

Assess customer adherence to relevant hygiene and safety standards.
Review documentation and record-keeping processes related to cleaning schedules and verification logs.
Evaluate traceability and audit readiness.
Provide practical recommendations to close compliance gaps.

Current hygiene status
Risk areas
Product performance analysis
Compliance gaps
Provide clear product recommendations aligned with best practice and regulatory requirements.
Present findings to customer management teams in a professional and consultative manner.

4. Process Improvement & Best Practice Implementation

Develop tailored hygiene improvement plans.
Recommend optimal product ranges, dilution systems, and application methods.
Propose improvements to cleaning schedules and documentation processes.
Support customers in implementing improved hygiene procedures.

5. Sales Alignment & Opportunity Development

Identify commercial opportunities based on audit findings.
Create a structured handover process to the Sales Representative.
Provide technical justification for recommended product changes.
Proactively contribute to pipeline development by uncovering upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
Participate in joint visits with Sales where appropriate.
Support the Sales team with technical expertise during customer discussions.

6. Relationship Management

Act as a trusted hygiene advisor to customers.
Build long-term relationships through professional, knowledgeable engagement.
Respond to technical queries and provide ongoing support.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Experience in hygiene auditing, environmental health, food safety, facilities management, or related field.
Proven track record in sales and relationship management.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, sanitation systems and application methods.
Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to target industries.
Experience conducting site inspections and producing formal reports.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interpret standards and translate them into practical actions.
Full driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications:

HACCP certification or equivalent food safety qualifications.
Background in B2B sales or consultative roles.
Experience in regulated environments (food production, healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, etc).
