Job Overview
We are seeking a Technical Director to lead our Electrical Engineering discipline in support of our strategy and local Business Unit plans.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategy Development: Develop a strategy for Electrical Engineering across the Group to forecast and plan the required capability and capacity.
* Business Support: Support the Business Units with strengthening and growing their departments.
* SME Areas: Develop targeted SME areas within Electrical Engineering.
* Cross-Functional Competencies: Work with Architecture and the Engineering Disciplines to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies.
* Design Activities: Define, for our core sectors, the range of design activities and deliverables required to deliver the projects safely and efficiently.
Digitalization of Business Processes/Ways of Working
* Continuous Improvement: Define and implement a strategy for continuous improvement of Electrical Engineering.
* Service Delivery Platform: Develop and improve the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform (SDP) as part of our Quality management System (QMS).
* Standardized Way of Working: Create a Group-wide standardized way of working for Electrical Engineering taking into account the specific requirements in local code and industry norms.
* Integration: Ensure the integration of key considerations such as digitally enabled lean design De LPD, sector-specific approaches, and our design office locations.
* Business Transformation: Business transformation projects are an investment cost (i.e., unsold) and their own time is managed by the Technical Director.
Governance of Design Delivery
* Sales Proposals: Support/input to key Sales Proposals as requested by the Director of Engineering.
* Watch List: Work with the Director of Engineering to establish a 'watch list' of key projects based on the extent of design challenge and technical integrity risk.
* Influencing Design: Influence the early stages of design on key projects.
* Single Discipline Design Reviews: Chair Single Discipline Design Reviews (SDDRs) on key projects.
* Project Basis of Safety: Review Project Basis of Safety documents as required by the Director of Engineering.
* End of Concept/BoD Reviews: Input to end of Concept/BoD 'go, no go' reviews for high-risk challenging projects.
Troubleshooting
* Critical Issues: Be a 'first responder' for critical issues regarding Electrical Engineering design across the Group.
* Senior Meetings: Meet with senior members of both our own and the customer's team.
* Corrective Actions: Agree corrective actions/way forward.
* Technical Sponsor: Act as Technical Sponsor for the corrective actions.
* Progress Updates: Keep PM Group management updated on correction action progress.
