Lecturer / Assistant Professor in Palaeontology (12‑Month Temporary Post)
UCD School of Earth Sciences is seeking a Lecturer / Assistant Professor (below the bar) to teach and conduct research in Palaeontology for an estimated 12‑month term. The role includes teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules, developing new coursework, supervising student projects, and contributing to field classes.
Responsibilities
Develop and teach a new module on palaeobiology and stratigraphy.
Teach existing core and elective undergraduate and postgraduate Earth Sciences modules.
Contribute to geology field classes.
Supervise final year BSc student projects.
Conduct research in areas of interest.
Qualifications
PhD in a relevant field.
Strong research record in one or more of: invertebrate palaeontology, ichnology, conservation palaeobiology, micropaleontology, stratigraphy.
Experience teaching university‑level modules.
Expertise in carbonate sedimentology and/or the stratigraphic record of Earth system change is an advantage.
Capability to supervise student projects.
Salary
Salary: €42,599 – €72,717 per annum (Lecturer / Assistant Professor scale).
