Role overview
We are seeking a Senior Siemens S7 Automation Engineer to take technical ownership of the PLC layer for multiple site-wide automation upgrade projects.
This is a senior, hands‑on engineering role requiring strong technical leadership and structured execution in regulated GMP environments.
The role will focus primarily on Siemens S7 PLC systems (including legacy-to-modern platform upgrades) and will interface with Delta V DCS systems and a variety of manufacturing equipment.
Key responsibilities
Lead the PLC scope for multiple automation upgrade projects in a live manufacturing environment.
Perform PLC software design, development, testing, and commissioning.
Implement and support PLC–DCS interfaces, including integration with Emerson Delta V.
Work with OEM and vendor equipment across process skids, utilities, packaging, and ancillary systems.
Participate in FAT, SAT and on-site commissioning activities.
Ensure automation activities comply with GMP, GAMP 5 and site quality standards.
Support change management, system lifecycle documentation and validation deliverables.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Validation, Engineering, IT, Operations).
Act as the on‑site technical subject matter expert for Siemens PLC systems.
Required experience & skills
Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic or Software Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Strong hands‑on experience with Siemens S7 PLC platforms: S7‑300, S7‑400 and S7‑1500 (TIA Portal).
Proven track record delivering PLC upgrade projects in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
Practical experience with S7‑300 → S7‑1500 migrations highly desirable.
Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or other regulated manufacturing is preferred.
Familiarity with Delta V interfaces or DCS integration is a strong advantage.
Good understanding of GMP, GAMP 5 and regulated system lifecycle requirements.
Experience with FAT/SAT, commissioning and troubleshooting.
Excellent documentation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Able to work independently while leading technical scopes within project teams.
