This growth phase offers excellent opportunities for career advancement and collaboration on leading transport infrastructure initiatives.Main DutiesThe Principal Consultant will develop proposals, manage, and deliver projects related to sustainable transport plans, network development, feasibility studies, transport appraisal, funding bids, and policy development. The focus will be on local, low-carbon, and sustainable transport including active travel, public transport, new mobility, and decarbonisation.Key ResponsibilitiesManaging technical staff, project budgets, and liaising with clients and stakeholders.Acting as Project Manager for sustainable transport projects across Ireland.Overseeing project budgets and resource planning.Ensuring work quality and compliance with standards.Managing scheme deliverables and preparing technical documents, reports, and presentations.Supporting business development through proposal development and tender submissions.Profile/SkillsExtensive transport planning experience, especially in Sustainable and Active Travel.Knowledge of policy, appraisal, funding streams, and design guidance.Proven project management success.Strong client relationship skills and confidence in client-facing roles.Proposal development and business acquisition experience is advantageous.Excellent report writing, presentation, and analytical skills, including GIS.People and resource management experience; line management is a plus.Experience in developing transport policies, strategies, and feasibility studies.Experience conducting stakeholder engagement and managing travel surveys.Competence in transport options appraisal and business case management.Knowledge of travel demand management and behaviour change initiatives.Why SYSTRA?Our core values—Excellence, Connected Teams, and Bold Leadership—guide us.
