Senior or Basic Grade Dietitian Maternity Cover Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16 Contract: Full-time (37 hrs), Maternity Cover Mode: On-site Reports to: Clinical Director About Bloomfield Hospital Bloomfield Hospital is a 131-bed in-patient mental health service and an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission.
Our ethos is rooted in dignity, compassion and evidence-based care.
We provide a specialist spectrum of neuropsychiatric services for adults with complex and enduring mental health needs including Alzheimers, Parkinsons and Huntingtons Disease, as well as early-onset dementias, schizophrenia and mood disorders.
We are the only facility in Ireland providing this level of specialised care for people with Huntingtons Disease.
With over 200 multidisciplinary staff across Psychiatry, Nursing, Psychology, Allied Health and Social Care, Bloomfield offers a supportive, therapeutic environment grounded in recovery-oriented practice.
About the Role We are seeking a Senior or Basic Grade Dietitian to deliver a comprehensive dietetic service to adults in long-term care and adults with neuro-disability and complex mental health needs.
The post holder will act as a clinical resource, providing expert guidance to colleagues and supporting high-quality, evidence-based nutritional care across the hospital.
You will work as part of a dedicated MDT, contributing to integrated care pathways and supporting continuous service development.
Key ResponsibilitiesProfessional / Clinical Deliver comprehensive nutritional assessment, intervention and evaluation for adults with neuro disability and complex mental health needs.
Make highly specialist clinical decisions for complex cases.
Manage enteral feeding regimens and complex feeding issues (including oral-motor dysfunction).
Provide a high-quality clinical dietetic service in line with CORU standards.
Participate in MDT meetings, case conferences and integrated care planning.
Lead and contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
Provide expert clinical advice to dietetic colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
Support clinical placements and dietetic student projects (where applicable).
Ensure all care respects patient dignity, privacy, equality and diversity.
Education & Training Contribute to staff and student education programmes.
Maintain up-to-date CORU registration and CPD requirements.
Participate in supervision and performance management structures.
Produce clear, evidence-based nutrition resources for clients, carers and professionals.

Maintain strong working relationships with the MDT, residents and families.

Qualifications & ExperienceEssential Recognised Dietetics qualification with current CORU registration.
Minimum 1.5 years post-qualification experience.
Experience in neuro-disability and mental health dietetics.
Evidence of relevant postgraduate CPD.
Ability to work independently and within an MDT.
Desirable Experience delivering training or leading intervention programmes.
Experience coordinating MDT meetings.
Research and audit experience.
