Job Title:
HGV Mechanics
Based: Ballymount Depot
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
Key Responsibilities and tasks
1. Perform routine safety inspections as trained in-house
2. Perform Planned Maintenance and Corrective maintenance to a high standard
3. Be comfortable around Auto electrics and general Fault finding
4. Understanding of Euro 6 standards and sub engine equipment
5. Be able to attend roadside break downs and assess each fault as they come
6. Understand H&S rules and obey by these while conducting works
7. Ensure adherence to all relevant company policies and procedures.
8. Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition. To act proactively in identifying and any unsafe practices or safety risks in the organisation and reporting these through the appropriate channels.
9. Ensure all tools are returned to the storage cupboard at the end of each shift, maintaining organization and inventory.
10. Monitor the hazardous waste bin to ensure it is not overflowing and that the correct wastes are disposed of in the appropriate bins.
11. Wash down the engine bay as new vehicles are brought into the workshop.
12. Perform weekly and monthly inspection checks of workshop equipment, recording findings on Freeway.
13. Oversee the tyre bay, ensuring rims are cleaned for tyre fitment.
14. Conduct general checks on the fleet cars, vans, and training fleet, including oil, coolant levels, and tyre pressures, to ensure they are in good working order
15. Responsibility in managing, participating, and complying with the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Essential:
16. Relevant Engineering Qualification (level 6 minimum)
17. Quality repair and preventative maintenance skills
18. Ability to understand and execute training and instruction
19. Basic mechanical skills with a focus on vehicle maintenance.
20. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
21. Ability to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly workshop.
22. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
23. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Desirable:
24. Good knowledge of Volvo and Mercedes-Benz products
25. Strong diagnostics capabilities with good computer skills
26. Good understanding of IT in order to use the Vehicle Maintenance Systems
27. Full clean B license
