Purpose: The Housing First programme is a person-centred, evidence-based approach that supports individuals with complex health and social care needs to move directly into permanent housing, without preconditions. Delivered through a multidisciplinary team (MDT) model and Case Management support, the programme provides intensive, flexible, and integrated support to enable sustained tenancies and improved health and wellbeing outcomes
The Housing First Model in Dublin brings together the Health MDT and the Intensive Case Management Team to ensure accessible and person cantered supports are delivered to people living in Housing First Tenancies Across Dublin City and County.

The Assistant Psychologist will work under the clinical supervision of the Senior Clinical Psychologist to provide high-quality psychological support within the Housing First Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). This MDT is part of a collaborative consortium between Coolmine and Ana Liffey Drug Project, who work jointly to deliver an integrated Housing First model for individuals with complex needs.The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to the delivery of psychologically informed, trauma-aware support through assessment, intervention, and close collaboration with MDT colleagues. The role is grounded in the core principles of Housing First—harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, unconditional support, and client choice.
Role & Responsibilities:
· Assist in the delivery of psychological services under the supervision of the Senior Clinical Psychologist, in line with evidence-based practice and Housing First principles.
· Work closely with Intensive Case Managers and Housing Support Teams to promote coordinated, person-centred care and the integration of psychological, social, and housing interventions.
· Support the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a range of psychological assessments (e.g., psychometric measures, self-report tools, structured interviews), contributing to clinical formulations under supervision.
· Support the development of individualised care plans and therapeutic interventions, contributing relevant assessment information and client insights.
· Assist with ongoing monitoring of client progress, contributing to intervention planning, reviews, and coordinated support across the MDT.
· Prepare clear, concise, and timely written reports, maintaining high standards in clinical documentation, ethics, and data protection.
· Support the implementation of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma-Informed Practice across the service.
· Advocate for the psychological needs and preferences of clients within the MDT, ensuring client voice and choice are central to care planning.
· Assist clients in accessing external supports (e.g., specialist mental health or addiction services) in collaboration with the MDT
Clinical Governance
· Deliver all work in alignment with national professional guidelines, supervision agreements, relevant legislation, and organisational policy.
· Support MDT colleagues in the monitoring and documentation of risk, escalating concerns as appropriate and in line with clinical governance procedures.
· Contribute to the development and review of clinical protocols, service pathways, and relevant Housing First procedures, as appropriate to an Assistant Psychologist role.
· Participate in audits, quality assurance initiatives, and reflective practice sessions to support continual service improvement.
· Ensure accurate and secure record-keeping, including the management of sensitive client information in line with GDPR requirements.
· Contribute to incident reviews, service user feedback processes, and quality improvement actions under the guidance of clinical leads
Research & Evaluation
· Assist in the collection, entry, and analysis of data related to psychological interventions, client outcomes, and service performance.
· Support research, service audits, and evaluation projects that contribute to evidence-based practice within the Housing First MDT.
· Support the Senior Clinical Psychologist in monitoring the effectiveness of interventions and contributing to service development initiatives
Professional Knowledge & Experience
· Ability to support the assessment of individuals with multiple and complex needs, including mental health difficulties, substance use, trauma histories, and/or neurodevelopmental conditions.
· Understanding of trauma-informed care and the ability to apply relevant principles in day-to-day client interactions.
· Experience (placement, employment, or voluntary) in mental health, homelessness, addiction, or related community support settings is desirable.
· Ability to facilitate engagement with community-based supports, promoting recovery, wellbeing, and social inclusion.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications – Essential
· A minimum of a 2:1 honour degree in NFQ Level 8 Psychology Degree
· Eligible for Graduate Membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
Qualifications – Desirable
· Relevant post-graduate qualification in applied psychology
* Experience in working with individuals with complex and enduring mental health needs, including dual diagnosis (mental health and substance use), trauma, homelessness, and/or neurodiversity
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Commitment to Housing First principles, including harm reduction, client choice, and person-centred, recovery-oriented practice.

· Strong interpersonal, communication, and engagement skills, with the ability to build supportive, respectful relationships with clients who may experience multiple disadvantages.
· Competency in IT systems necessary for assessment, documentation, and data reporting.
