RESPONSIBLE TO: The service Manager on a day-to-day basis and ultimately to the Centre Manager and the Board of Management.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION: Min of QQI level 5 in ECEC (8 modules) or equivalent.
(Level 6 is desirable)2 years' experience in an ECEC or SAC setting.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations.Commitment to delivering quality Early Childhood Education & CareDUTIES: To create a positive approach to working with young children so that each child is supported and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential.To collaborate with the manager/ supervisor and other staff to plan, carry out, review and monitor activities and programmes appropriate to the individual and group needs of children.To maintain a safe and hygienic environment.To work as part of the team.To set simple realistic limits for children that are developmentally appropriate which are consistently followed and so encourages a positive rather than a negative approach to discipline.
To be vigilant on any areas of concern and seek advice/ support where appropriate.To liaise as appropriate with parents/ guardians of the children in an understanding and friendly manner and ensure they are always welcome in the centre.To familiarise yourself with all policies & procedures of the centre.To familiarise yourself with the needs of the children in your care e.g.
allergies, dietary, medical, additional needs etc.To support and act professionally with fellow educators working in the centre.To keep records as required and to contribute to updating children's records.To guide and support children in creative exploration of their environment and the world they live in through developmentally appropriate activities, building up their confidence and self esteem.To ensure that the developmental, educational and social needs of the children are being met.To ensure all toys/ equipment are properly maintained, sterilised, stored and developmentally appropriate for the children in our care.To ensure all children are treated equally and with respect regardless of colour, race, class, or gender.To set up play activities for the children.To administrate first aid when necessary.To attend and participate in meetings, supervisions, appraisals and training.To comply with all ECEC/ SAC, employment and health & safety and regulation.To maintain STRICT confidentiality with all aspects of the Early Years centre, its staff, children and their families both during and outside working hours.Any other duties which may reasonably be requested Management or Senior staff.The closing date for receipt of applications: Friday 18th July 2025 (interviews will be the following week.
