Job Summary:
The HR Manager will lead the site HR function, providing professional guidance and support to site management in matters relating to recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, and organizational design. This role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of employment law, and experience in a similar HR function.
Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Selection: Prepare job descriptions, advertise vacancies, shortlist candidates, conduct interviews/assessments, take up references, and dispatch offer letters. Design and implement induction and onboarding programs.
- Training: Coach managers, facilitate the identification of training needs, design bespoke programs, and arrange/deliver induction training. Achieve and maintain Investors in People accreditation. Oversee in-house apprenticeship programs.
- Employee Relations: Provide expert HR advice on employment legislation and industrial relations issues. Ensure ER advice is in line with company values, policies, and procedures. Identify trends in cases to provide insight and recommend relevant training, policy, and process improvements. Contribute to in-house negotiations as required. Engage with unions and coordinate meetings to promote a positive working relationship.
- Performance Management: Provide line managers with advice on managing performance and the performance management cycle. Administer the PM process, ensuring plans are on track and objectives are set. Support calibration activities and administer incremental changes in line with planned training. Participate in the annual salary review process.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the HR function.
- Good verbal and written presentation/communication skills.
- Knowledge of current employment law.
- IT Literate in use of Microsoft Office.
- Exposure to a unionized environment is desirable.
- Relevant experience in a similar role or demonstrable interest in health and safety activities.
- Demonstrable good communication and interpersonal skills and evidence of good working relationships internally and externally.
- Demonstrable evidence of information handling ability and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize and plan.
