JOB TITLE: Lab Technician - Microbiology (12-month fixed term)
BUSINESS UNIT: Food Ingredients
FUNCTION: Perform testing in the Microbiology Laboratory
REPORTING TO: Quality Manager
LOCATION: Nenagh, Tipperary
PURPOSE:
Microbiological testing of samples.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:
* Collecting samples from the Production plants.
* Performing timely analytical testing in Microbiology Laboratory.
* Ensuring that all documentation is completed correctly to the approved procedures.
* Identifying and highlighting any issues to the appropriate manager. Following through with issues to achieve a resolution.
* Participating in and providing support to investigation and project teams. Assisting in the resolution of quality problems as required.
* To assist in the upkeep and maintenance of internal and external standards (e.g. BRC, HACCP).
* High level of laboratory housekeeping.
* Comply with health and safety requirements.
* Support of other laboratories if required, i.e., to undertake other duties as required in line with business needs.
* Managing Shelf-life samples.
* Managing samples for external testing as required.
* Daily updates of LIMS, EXCEL trackers. Daily summary of results and issue daily reports to the operations team highlighting any issues or out of specification results.
* Training of Students
QUALIFICATION
Minimum Diploma in Microbiology or equivalent discipline.
Experience in a microbiology laboratory is an advantage.
KEY COMPETENCIES

* Strong analytical ability.
* Food handling and Chemical Awareness knowledge.
* Team-worker with strong interpersonal, communication skills and continuous improvement mind-set.
* Computer literacy is essential.
* A high level of English verbal and written fluency is required.
