Job Title: Accounting Assistant
We are seeking an experienced accounting assistant to join our team. As an accounting assistant, you will be responsible for managing banking transactions, reconciliations, and supplier payments. You will also maintain accounting records using Sage (or similar) software, manage debtor and creditor ledgers, raise customer invoices, and assist with credit control efforts.
You will need to have a good working knowledge of Excel and experience using Sage Line 50 and Sage Payroll would be a distinct advantage. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years experience in a similar role and a strong understanding of processing payroll.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reconciliation of purchase orders placed to supplier invoices received, identifying any anomalies and allocating costs to various departments. They will also conduct monthly supplier statement reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations, posting credit card transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
In addition, the successful candidate will prepare financial reports, including income and expenditure statements and month-end reconciliations. They will also assist with year-end accounts and audits, participate in revenue filings for PAYE, VAT, RCT obligations and assist with advertising efforts by performing monthly mail merge of company brochure to potential new timber suppliers.
Required Skills:
* BBS/BA in Business and Accounting or similar qualification
* Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel
* Minimum 3 years Finance Department experience
* Full clean driving license
* Good time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
* Track record of self-motivation and demonstrated ability to take initiative
* Highly developed organisational skills and a high standard attention to detail
