Role Summary
The NTMA has a requirement for an experienced legal secretary within the State Claims Agency. The role is currently assigned to the general litigation unit. The main purpose of the role is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the general litigation unit. The successful candidate will work as part of the general litigation unit’s support team within the State Claims Agency undertaking secretarial and administrative tasks.
Principal Accountabilities
* Preparing legal documents, including briefs, pleadings and correspondence
* Assisting in the preparation and printing of legal papers for court
* Preparing papers and correspondence for factual and expert witnesses
* Perform Dictaphone typing and transcription tasks accurately and efficiently
* Liaise professionally with clients, counsel, witnesses and court staff
* Assist with organising and maintaining incoming and outgoing post
* Perform general administrative duties to support the team

* Strong communication skills and an ability to work well in a team environment
* Excellent attention to detail
* Proficient and accurate typing skills
* Ability to work on own initiative, self-manage and proactively drive tasks to conclusion
* Ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines
* Professional, discreet, and confidential in approach at all times
Knowledge
* Minimum of two years’ experience as a legal secretary
* Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office suite products
* Strong organisational and time-management skills
* Dictaphone typing experience is essential
Pension Abatement
If an appointee has previously been employed in the Civil or Public Service and that appointee is entitled to or in receipt of a pension from the Civil or Public Service or where a Civil/Public Service pension comes into payment during the appointee’s re-employment that pension will be subject to abatement in accordance with Section 52 of the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and other Provisions) Act 2012.
