Excel Recruitment is actively looking for Maintenance caretaker will support the daily operation, safety, and upkeep of university buildings on campus in Tralee, This role involves routine inspections, minor maintenance tasks, and ensuring facilities are secure and functioning efficiently.
The ideal candidate is proactive, responsible, and able to identify and resolve basic maintenance issues independently.
Key Responsibilities Daily Building & Grounds Duties Conduct daily inspections of all buildings to identify hazards, damage, or maintenance requirements.
Monitor general condition of facilities and report any irregularities promptly.
Maintenance & Repair Perform minor repairs such as: Replacing light bulbs Fixing door handles and locks Basic plumbing tasks (e.g., unblocking sinks, tightening fittings) Assist with routine upkeep to ensure a safe and functional environment.
Report major maintenance issues to the Facility Manager for escalation.
Security & Access Control Unlock and lock buildings as scheduled.
If PSA-licensed, manage access control and support security procedures as required.
Requirements Previous experience in a caretaker, general operative, or maintenance role (preferred).
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair tools.
Ability to work shifts and respond to issues proactively.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
PSA licence an advantage for building access and security functions.
Additional Information Full training on university policies, buildings, and health & safety procedures will be provided.
Uniform, equipment, and relevant PPE supplied.
Reports directly to the Facility Manager.
