AtkinsRéalis, one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland, is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to be based in our Galway office.
The successful candidate will work within a structural team in a multidisciplinary office on varied projects across sectors including Commercial, Residential, Healthcare, Industrial, and Education for both public and private clients.
The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, responsible, and comfortable working as part of a team.
Duties will include: Acting as a Lead Structural Engineer within Multidisciplinary Design Teams. Design input and oversight of all structural aspects of projects. Preparing project reports (Planning, Tender, Construction) and communicating complex technical matters clearly. Presenting design intent through PowerPoint presentations. Preparing fee proposals and site-specific quality submissions for design contracts. Communicating with internal and external parties via email. Overseeing the preparation of design drawings. Preparing design calculations for review. Undertaking duties as Ancillary Certifier for the C&S discipline. Managing design budgets financially. Supervising and mentoring other structural engineers reporting to the candidate. Managing personal and team workloads effectively. Desirable skills/attributes: Chartered Engineer with Engineers Ireland or the Institution of Structural Engineers. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with effective workload management. Experience delivering Structural Engineering Design to Eurocodes. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience with structural design software (Robot and Tekla Structural Designer advantageous). Experience as Lead Project C+S engineer on multidisciplinary projects. Knowledge of civil engineering aspects including drainage design and external works.
