Retail Manager
Location: EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum
At EPIC, we're more than a museum — we're a place where stories are felt, shared and taken home. Our gift shop plays a key role in extending the visitor journey, showcasing Irish craft, culture and creativity.
We're now looking for a Retail Manager to help us deliver memorable experiences, support the running of our shop, and contribute to commercial growth on-site and online.
What you'll do
You'll work closely with the Head of Retail, lead the store team day-to-day, and bring energy, organisation and creativity to this busy visitor-facing environment
Reports to: Head of Retail
Salary: €38,000 - €42,000
People Leadership
* Lead and motivate the team on the shop floor, modelling world class customer engagement
* Coach the team, nurture a positive culture and drive performance against targets
* Manage the roster, task allocation and workflow
* Deliver product training and maintain training materials, guides & booklet
Gift Shop Operations
* Support daily gift shop operations and commercial targets
* Oversee merchandising and seasonal displays
* Manage POS, cash handling, product standards, waste and stock processes
* Model and drive exceptional customer service and product/supplier knowledge
* Create and update SOPs for consistency and best practice
* Liaise with Facilities regarding maintenance issues and escalations
* Maintain Health & Safety, security and emergency procedures
* Manage online shop fulfilment including shipping, orders and customer communication
Brand Representation
* Act as a warm, informed ambassador for EPIC and Irish retail craft
* Lead the 'fond farewell' ensuring that visitors see the gift shop as an extension to their visit to the museum
* Champion responsible sustainable retail practice

* Ability to lead and motivate a team on a busy shop floor
* Organised, calm under pressure and solutions-focused
* Creative eye for merchandising, display and in-store storytelling
* Able to coach others and grow product knowledge in the team
* Comfortable with retail systems and improving workflows
* Passion for culture, craft, visitors and creating great retail moment
Experience
* 3-5 years previous managerial experience
* Experience working driving sales against a set of targets
What success looks like in 6 months
* You can confidently run the shop day to day
* You have built trust with the team and developed strong product knowledge
* You have contributed ideas that improved sales, ATVs or retail experience quality
