Role Overview
The OT Engineer will play a key role in developing and maintaining operational technology infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration between factory-floor systems (sensors, PLCs, SCADA) and enterprise data platforms. This position supports ongoing digital transformation initiatives and requires strong technical capability, adaptability, and collaboration across both operations and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
Core Technical Duties
* Install and configure sensors and field devices for integration with PLCs, SCADA systems, printers, and MES platforms.
* Implement and maintain OT communication networks including Ethernet switches and wireless gateways; familiarity with IEC 62890, IEC 62264, and RAMI 4.0 is an advantage.
* Work with MES partners to ensure accurate data alignment and system integration.
* Coordinate with IT teams to support secure data extraction and maintain network separation.
* Recommend system enhancements and develop dashboards, alerts, and reporting tools.
* Address skill gaps by coordinating training, vendor support, and knowledge-sharing activities.
* Ensure all OT systems meet cybersecurity, safety, and compliance requirements.
* Document configurations, processes, and standards for team knowledge and continuous improvement.
Performance Deliverables
* Resolve OT-related issues within an average of 24 hours.
* Complete assigned industrial training within agreed timelines.
* Deliver two data integration or OT improvement projects per quarter.
* Achieve a minimum of 80% satisfaction rating from internal project teams.
* Propose at least one OT–IT process improvement each quarter.
Health & Safety / Food Safety Responsibilities
* Follow all relevant Health & Safety, Food Safety, SOPs, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at all times.
* Maintain equipment and work practices in a safe and compliant manner.
* Challenge unsafe or non-compliant practices immediately.
* Support internal and external audit readiness.
* Wear required PPE at all times.
* Report hazards, concerns, or incidents promptly.
* Conduct yourself professionally and support a safe, respectful working environment.
* Fully engage in training to ensure understanding of all SOPs, GMPs, and safety requirements.
* Work efficiently and to high quality standards at all times.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
* 1–3 years' experience in automation, industrial networking, or data integration.
* Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA, sensors, and industrial protocols (Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA).
* Basic networking and programming knowledge (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Python, C).
* Willingness to learn new industrial hardware and communication protocols (e.g., IFM, Banner, SICK).
* Familiarity with data integration tools, IIoT concepts, and cloud technologies is beneficial.
* Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Motivated to pursue further training and industry certifications (ISA, etc.).
