Job description: MSAT Principal Scientist This position will play a leading role in transferring, validating and troubleshooting existing clinical andcommercial processes, building a detailed understanding of them, and developing improvements consistentwith cGMP. It will involve close collaboration with Process Development, Manufacturing, Quality Control,and Quality Assurance groups. Experience with multiple processes, products, scale-up and technologytransfer is a requirement for this role. Key focus on technology transfer biologics to include devising andexecuting process optimization studies to support manufacturing efficiencies, new product introductionactivities, completion of product robustness monitoring in partnership with global technical teams and theprovision of leadership for investigations. The position will provide technical leadership for biologicsmanufacturing, process validation, support optimization of processes, including supporting laboratory scalestudies. In this role you will report to the MSAT TT & PPQ Lead. Your Responsibilities Will play an important role in the strategy and business planning processes (Manufacturing and MSAT), ensuring cross functional collaboration and leadership execution. Support the execution of the overall Manufacturing strategy aligned with the facilitys strategic business plans and global Manufacturing strategy. Lead and mentor technology transfer teams from initial project kick-off to commercial manufacturing support. Liaise internally and with clients to develop the PPQ strategy and execution of projects onsite. Scale-up through technology/process transfer to clinical and commercial manufacturing. Utilize fundamental engineering principles relevant to bioprocess unit operations for scale-up and technology transfer. Plan and execute of small-scale validation studies. Responsible for manufacturing process validation plans, protocols and reports. Design, execute and document experiments to support manufacturing improvements and investigations. Participate in the diagnosis and resolution of production challenges which are process related. Responsible for providing manufacturing with critical process information necessary for maintaining consistent product supply, now and in the future. Monitor production and lab processes using statistical tools for trending, analysing and when appropriate modelling the data. Skilled in applying design of experiments principles to screening and process characterization studies. Able to lead science-based risk assessments to support decision making for Quality and Manufacturing. Ensure accurate and complete documentation of any scientific experimental plan, data and report. Test the feasibility of new manufacturing processes. Participate in due diligence efforts for evaluation of products or technologies. Lead/participate in cross-functional project teams. Author scientific reports and publications. Adhere to all site safety, environmental and industrial hygiene procedures and practices. May be required to work periodically out of normal business hours Will be flexible to take on additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the MSAT TT & PPQ Lead. Your Profile: The ideal candidate for this position will have the following: Education: PhD in a relevant discipline with 4 years of relevant industry experience or M.Sc. in a relevant discipline with 6 years of relevant industry experience. Knowledge/Experience/Technical Competencies: Experienced in supporting the development of an MSAT team/function. Significant technology transfer and PPQ experience with a commercial manufacturing environment to similar scale. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross functional collaborative team to achieve mutual goals. Minimum of 4 years experience in biologics process development/commercial manufacturing environment. Experience in managing people on a project basis. Knowledgeable in adapting small scale processes developed at laboratory scale for clinical and commercial GMP manufacturing. Thorough understanding of GMP related to Facility design and operation, equipment, utility and cleanroom design, operation and maintenance.
