Job Description
What you get to do in this role:
* The Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) will be responsible for managing and resolving the most challenging issues for the ServiceNow SRE team focusing on instance performance, reliability, and availability.
* This is a technical role and requires strong troubleshooting skills as well as strong technical skills.
* This is a nightshift role (4 days a week) and must be based anywhere within the Republic of Ireland.
Qualifications
* Degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
* Minimum of 4 years of IT operations experience
* Experience in leveraging AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving
* Solid Knowledge of ITIL driven IT Operations – Incident, Problem & Change Management
* Experience working well in a team environment while also being able to work productively while unsupervised
* Solid experience of troubleshooting in a highly demanding environment
* Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot difficult technical issues
* Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate solutions to technical problems
* Excellent time management skills
Required Technical Qualifications
* Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux operating system, including memory management, process management, disk/IO troubleshooting, and network troubleshooting
* Solid understanding of Networking skills, including TCP, IP addressing, routing, HTTP, HTTPS/TLS/SSL, DNS, DHCP, FTP/SFTP
* Understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres)
* Knowledge of one (or more) scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, Unix Shell
* Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
* Familiarity with Configuration Management tools like Ansible and Puppet
* knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
* Working knowledge of the components in a web applications stack
* Experience diagnosing performance degradation (e.g. explain plans, database tuning, replication related issues)
* Familiarity with monitoring large and scalable systems, applications, and networks
* Experience with Splunk, Gitlab
* Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
* Certification in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
