Civils Site Supervisor - HV Cable Route - Grid Infrastructure - Substations - Construction – Cork, Ireland – Contract
A leading Tier-1 contractor is seeking an experienced Civils Site Supervisor / Resident Engineer to support the construction delivery of a 110kV grid route project in the Cork region.
This contract position will focus on overseeing the installation of a 110kV underground cable route linking a newly constructed substation to an existing substation.
You will be responsible for supervising the civils subcontractor and ensuring construction works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to programme.
Key Responsibilities:
* Acting as the site representative overseeing the civils subcontractor delivering the cable route works
* Ensuring full compliance with HSE standards and quality requirements across all site activities
* Verifying installation works are carried out in line with EirGrid standards and project specifications
* Checking duct formation, spacing from existing services and ensuring correct templates and installation methods are used
* Reviewing and signing off subcontractor QA/QC inspection sheets as works progress
* Supervising excavation, ducting, reinstatement and associated civils activities along public road networks
* Overseeing traffic management implementation and ensuring safe operation in live public environments
* Coordinating with utilities including ESB, Gas Networks Ireland and local councils
* Identifying and reporting non-conformances, risks and programme issues to the project team
* Supporting progress tracking and ensuring works align with project programme
Role Scope:
* Purely supervisory position – no responsibility for ordering materials, labour or logistics
* Acting as a quality and compliance lead on site rather than managing delivery resources directly
Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience in a Civil Site Supervisor, Site Engineer or Resident Engineer role
* Strong background in civil engineering works, particularly roadworks, ducting and infrastructure
* Experience on HV cable routes, substations or utilities projects is advantageous
* Solid understanding of HSE, QA/QC and site compliance processes
* Experience working in live road environments with traffic management coordination
* Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
* Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Contract Details:
* Location - Cork region, Ireland.
* Contract duration - Initial term through to year end, with potential for continuation onto future projects based on performance
* Start date – ASAP, depending on your availability
* Working arrangement - Site-based.
